The arts are alive again in Downtown Pontiac. Building a rich and vibrant community can not be done without embracing the arts. As in it's past the art community is alive and even more so this season.
A walk through Downtown Pontiac now will excite the eyes as "The Art Awakening" occurs. Two programs are available for public viewing on our historic buildings. The DIA Inside|Out program brings thirteen classical art pieces from the DIA's collection in reproduction to our streets. This is Pontiac's second season of enjoying the masters works right within walking distance and this year brings several new pieces. The masters of the DIA collection are amazing to view, but we don't forget our own local artists through the Canvas Pontiac program. Canvas Pontiac brings art and culture back to Downtown Pontiac. Inviting local artists from around Michigan to submit and display their art to be shared on public display throughout Downtown Pontiac. This year's call for artist doubled the submissions from last year's contest. For the artist the contest prizes significantly increased as well encouraging incredibly talented individuals to submit art for the public eyes viewing. The Pontiac Downtown Business Association (PDBA) supports the local arts through the Canvas Pontiac program. The PDBA is a non-profit, volunteer organization.
