For the fifth year in a row the community of Pontiac, organized by the Pontiac Downtown Business Association (PDBA), honors volunteers and organizations that help make the community shine. The honors go out to those who participate in activities specifically in downtown as well as throughout the City of Pontiac. Downtown Pontiac is the gateway to the city for many, as the place they most often see when they visit Pontiac.
The annual event has become a tradition for the community to come together to honor volunteers and angels that give the city spirit. Nine award categories are handed out for Design, Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in the Community, both Youth and Senior Awards, as well as recognition of a Service Group, Municipal partner, and Community Partner award. The organization also honors someone every year at the event with the President’s Award for an incredible partnership and commitment to the community. PDBA volunteers have donated over 60,000 hours of their time since 2011 towards recovery, celebration, and programming that positively affect our great city. With the PDBA's efforts and all the rest of the volunteer organizations, that's an amazing amount of volunteer effort donated to the City of Pontiac.
Volunteer nominations are being accepted for this year's awards. Nine categories are open to both individuals and organizations. Many of the nominations are open to volunteers throughout Pontiac, and a few awards are specific to Downtown.
