Call For Artists 2016, Canvas Pontiac begins
Call For Artists!
Canvas Pontiac is inspiring the community to be involved for 2016! Canvas Pontiac is known for drawing local artists from all around the region to submit and display their art throughout Downtown Pontiac. Each year, the program has consistently drawn the attention of the community to the value of public art.
Artists are being asked to submit their creative art in the form of paintings, digital flat art, photography, and other media that displays well on large 8-foot by 10-foot canvas reproductions. The pieces are judged on their ability to stand as one of the large outdoor viewing canvases and then judged again once installed for prize awards of first, second, third and community choice awards judged by prestigious art organizations.
Artists include both professional and budding artists including local students and professionals who have a passion for showing off their artistic talents.

ABOUT Canvas Pontiac
Canvas Pontiac brings art and culture back to Downtown Pontiac. Inviting local artists froma round Michigan to submit and display their art to be shared on public display throughout Downtown Pontiac.
Last year fifty-six artists submitted their works for display. Twenty-five of those made it through initial jury to be showcased on large 8' x 10' canvases on buildings throughout Downtown Pontiac. Through a partnership program, the Pontiac Downtown Business Associations "Canvas Pontiac" program has fostered the arts throughout Downtown. For two years running Pontiac welcomed the DIA Inside|Out program showing off the masters of the DIA to our Pontiac residents thanks to funding from the Kauffman Foundation. With incredible passion, the program has continued to foster and for it's second year the DIA has outreached through Canvas Pontiac to demonstrate how tax funding can bring arts to a community like Pontiac.
Canvas Pontiac and its parent organization, Main Street Pontiac, are volunteer organizations. Committee members meet regularly each month to plan future initiatives and implement current year's programing. This has all been accomplished thanks to the guidance of the program's coordinator, Robert Karazim, and the Canvas Pontiac Committee. For further details visit, CanvasPontiac.com.
