WHY: The Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan is hosting public open houses in four communities including Pontiac to share information on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along Woodward including the commuter rail from Detroit to Ann Arbor. They will also be including a conversation about possible station locations and how you'll be able to shorten your commute, end parking hassles and make good use of the time as you sit back and ride.
The Pontiac portion of the plan is included in the "BEST: Woodward Avenue" program which is an environmental review of Bus Rapid Transit service along Woodward Avenue to Downtown Detroit to Downtown Pontiac. The primary goals are to:
Analyse impacts to traffic, noise, and environmental justice
Develop prototype station designs
Facilitate local decision-making processes
Create inclusive public engagement to include all stakeholders
