What is it like to have your art piece alongside the DIA logo?
April 3, 2016
Imagine being a local artist and having your canvas blown up to a large 8 foot by 10 foot scale and installed on the side of a building and viewed by you, your friends, your family, and several thousand strangers DAILY! Now imagine how it must feel for all those eyeballs to not only view your artistic abilities, but also to have the DIA logo stamped right alongside your piece!
Last year, twenty-five local artists had that happen to them, and this year for the fourth year in a row Canvas Pontiac will be installing art to be seen through their regional art contest. Artists can still submit art now through May 18th at CanvasPontiac.com.
The DIA is a community partner of Canvas Pontiac, a program of the Main Street Pontiac group, formerly known as the Pontiac Downtown Business Association. Downtown Pontiac has played host to the DIA for several years in it's DIA Inside|Out program in which art from the greats are replicated and placed throughout the community for everyone to enjoy. Alongside that residents from Pontiac have travelled by bus to tour the originals down at the DIA in Downtown Detroit.
With the success of the program, the DIA was happy to support the Canvas Pontiac program for the second year in a row.
Last year several individuals had their submissions enlarged to be one of the lucky prints to be hung up for public viewing on the side of one of Downtown Pontiac's historical buildings. To share an example of the quality and variety of art submitted, these three lucky artists won the selection process to have their art enlarged and hung on the side of one of the buildings.
